Building Division

The Middletown Building Department enforces all State of CT Building Codes in accordance with the plans and specifications submitted with your application. The department inspects all phases of construction, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, structural installations and acts as consultant to other departments and agencies. As of October 1st 2018, the state has adopted new building codes and amendments.

CONTRACTORS - WE WILL NOT REVIEW YOUR APPLICATION UNTIL WE RECIEVE A COPY OF YOUR CONTRACTORS LICENSE ALONG WITH A CERTIFICATE OF LIABILITY INSURANCE W/ WORKERS COMP & THE CHECK FOR YOUR PERMIT FEE.

HOMEOWNERS - IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR THE PERMIT AND DOING THE WORK YOURSELF YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT A 7B FORM (SEE BELOW) VIA EMAIL OR MAIL ALONG WITH YOUR CHECK FOR YOUR PERMIT FEE.  IF YOU HIRED A CONSTRACTOR BUT ARE APPLYING FOR THE PERMIT FOR THEM, A 7A FORM (SEE BELOW) IS REQUIRED ALONG WITH THE CHECK FOR YOUR PERMIT FEE.

**IF YOUR PROPOSED WORK REQUIRES PLANS YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE FULL SIZE DRAWINGS TO US ALONG WITH OTHER REQUIRED PAPERWORK AND YOUR PAYMENT BEFORE WE REVIEW ANY INFORMATION**
