Middletown's Highway Department is responsible for maintaining 204 miles of streets. The Highway Department is located at 485 Washington Street. Crews are responsible for maintaining roads, bulk waste collection, fall leaf pick up, snow removal, Christmas tree collection, and storm water systems.

During the winter months, sand is available to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in small quantities from the Highway Garage at 485 Washington Street. Residents can bring a bucket to fill.
