    November 20, 2023, 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM
    @
    Activity Room, In person: onsite

Come play with us at the Library! Join us each week on Monday mornings to connect with other families and explore the power of play. A variety of toys will be out for free play including building materials, crafts, sensory toys and imaginative play. The activities we have planned are aimed at children age 1-5, and a caregiver, but all ages are welcome! Registration for each session is required (and will close when the event begins). Space is limited, so please let us know how many people will be in your party (all young people any caregivers = the number of people attending.) We know family schedules can change from week to week, so please register for each Monday session you plan to attend! This program is made possible though the generosity of the Friends of the Russell Library! Find out more about how you can support them here: https://russelllibrary.org/friends-of-the-library/

  2. Wangunk Tribe Talk

    November 20, 2023, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
    @
    Hubbard Room, In person: onsite

Join us to learn about the Wangunk with local tribal historian and Wangunk elder Gary O’Neil on Monday, November 20th at 6:00 pm. Gary O'Neil will speak about the history of his people, the Wangunk, who lived in Middletown and the surrounding areas up until the early 1800's. Gary is a direct descendant of the Jonathan Palmer line of the Wangunk. The land the library sits on is Wangunk land, as well as all of the Middletown area. The month of November is Native American Heritage Month, and the library is doing our part to recognize and partner with Gary and Kyle to bring awareness and recognition to the Wangunk, often considered the “lost tribe.” Registration is recommended.
