Pumpkins don't belong in the trash! They are heavy and expensive to dispose as trash. There are lots of better options! ??Compost them in your back yard; ??Bring them to the Pumpkin Smash event on Saturday, Nov. 11. You don't have to smash them; but you can and its super fun; ??Put them in a green food scrap bag, if you live in the Sanitation District; ??Drop them off at one of the City's food scrap drop offs. 1. Tellebration! A Celebration of Storytelling

    November 11, 2023, 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM

    Hubbard Room, In person: onsite

Tellabration is a mammoth storytelling event - and that's no Tall Tale! It's a storytelling phenomenon, made up of dozens of storytelling happenings all over the world. Its purpose is to introduce the pleasures of the oral art of storytelling. It is one of the programs offered by The Connecticut Storytelling Center, based in New London. Russell Library will host two Tellabrations for children on Saturdays, November 11th and December 2nd at 10:30 a.m. Ann Shapiro has been entertaining with her participatory music and storytelling programs for many years. She is recommended by the CT Office of the Arts as a Teaching Artist and since 1999, serves as Executive Director for The CT Storytelling Center. A teaching artist in residence in CT schools, she helps students and teachers to keep folk traditions alive by sharing the old stories and songs, followed by creating their own. Ann will use the ancient art of storytelling and singing together to create some fun. Children will leave their electronic devices behind, and will be engrossed in fairy and folk tales and songs. Plan on laughing and participating! This program creates a feeling of community as everyone joins in. Registration is suggested for event updates. Families of all ages welcome!
