Come play with us at the Library! Join us each week on Monday mornings to connect with other families and explore the power of play. A variety of toys will be out for free play including building materials, crafts, sensory toys and imaginative play. This is a great opportunity for children not yet in school or homeschool children to get together. The activities we have planned are aimed at children age 1-5, and a caregiver, but all ages are welcome! Registration is required (and will close when the event begins), please register for each week you plan to attend. Space is limited, so please let us know how many people will be in your party (all young people any caregivers = the number of people attending.) Join us for a fun family storytime in the Hubbard Room where we will read books and share rhymes and songs for kids birth to 6 years old and their families. We are trying monthly registration out, signing up for this storytime will sign you up for every Tuesday in February. Go ahead and sign up for the whole series, even if you can't make it to all of them! We are inviting homeschooling families with children ages 6-12 in our communitity to connect with Russell Youth and Familiy Learning librarians! The librarians will have a variety of teamwork challenges to complete while we all get to know each other. This is a great opportunity to meet with other families and provide the library feedback on ways to best work with homeschooling families for future meet ups. Come in for an afternoon of board gaming at the library! Bring your own board or tabletop game and teach it to friends (and Ms. Stephanie!) Pizza and snacks provided. Learn about owls with your friends at Russell Library! We will enjoy a nonfiction book together to learn about our feathered friends and then conduct a hands on exploration through the dissection and examination of owl pellets. Bones, fur, feathers…be a detective to search and discover what the owl ate! This program is intended for children ages 6-10 with a caregiver. Please register below. Are you a teen with ideas about Russell Library? Are you interested in sharing your ideas with peers and a librarian? Join our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meetings to chat and brainstorm programs, books, and ideas for how to make Russell Library a great space for teens! We know it is the middle of winter, but we'd love your thoughts about Summer 2023. If you are new to teen volunteering, you may attend this meeting as your orientation to the program. Please plan on staying the full hour-- you will be oriented and participate in the meeting within the hour. This event will take place at the gaming tables in the teen area on the left side of the library, accessible through the lobby. This program is intended for young people ages 12 - 19.
