Middletown, CT: Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater in Middletown will be presenting the 36th annual Children’s Circus of Middletown taking place August 2nd.

The Children’s Circus performance is the culmination of a five week day camp as part of the City of Middletown’s Kids Arts program. Over the five weeks the young people are trained in performance skills, acrobatics, juggling, dance, unicycling, clowning, stilting and other circus arts. The circus is made up of 175 children ages 5-15, 40 staff members, and a 15 piece band.

The performance, which is open to the public, will take place on Friday, August 2nd at 5pm outside at Macdonough Elementary School, 66 Spring Street, Middletown. The rain date is scheduled for Saturday, August 3rd at 5pm.

As always, the circus performance will be action packed and is bound to keep you on your toes. This year's theme is a mystery! Director of the Circus Jason Leinwand promises, “daring detective work, incredible investigations, red herrings galore, mysterious misfits, and epic car chases! Will we find the suspect and get our theme back?” He is thrilled to take you on this investigative hunt, and is so proud to showcase the skills that these children have worked so hard on!

Tickets are available only the day of performance; $8 for adults and $5 for kids, cash only. Please call (860) 347-6143 to reserve wheelchair seating. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic. There is street parking around the neighborhood. Handicapped & Elderly parking only in the school lot.

The Children’s Circus is part of the Kids Arts Program of the City of Middletown’s Office of the Arts and is directed and produced by Oddfellows Playhouse. Major support is provided by the Middletown Commission on the Arts, the Middlesex United Way, and the M. Jones Fund of the Community Foundation of Middlesex County.

Oddfellows Playhouse, founded in 1975, is Connecticut’s oldest and largest theater for young people. The Playhouse is located at 128 Washington Street in Middletown.
