Dear Middletown Recyclers,

Fall is here! I just wanted send out a quick note of some upcoming programs that you might find interesting.

1. The City has commenced a second round of the Heat Smart program and we have a great event scheduled for tomorrow, Oct. 11, at Russell Library. We'll have the Energy in Action mobile exhibit outside the library from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Its fun for kids and adults. Light dinner refreshments from Perk on Main will be available. Then we'll have an presentation inside the Hubbard Room at 6:30pm to discuss the City's program, energy efficiency and heat pumps! There's great incentives and opportunities to reduce energy costs and make your home more comfortable, so please come and spread the word! More information is available here:

2. The last regional paper shredding event will be held next Saturday, Oct. 15 in Chester from 9 am - 12 noon at the Chester Town Hall, 203 Middlesex Ave, Chester. More details here:

3. Pumpkins! Please don't trash your pumpkins. If you don't compost them yourselves, please bring them to one of our food waste drop offs or to the pumpkin smash on Nov. 5. More details here: Pumpkins can be smashed or just dropped off. Pumpkins are a resource! Please help us keep them out of the waste stream!

4. What's In, What's Out - Recycling Update, November 15, 6:30 pm at the Dekoven House, 27 Washington Street. DEEP Environmental Analyst, Sherill Baldwin, will join me on America Recycles Day (Nov. 15!) for an update on waste reduction efforts and recycling ins and outs.

If you have any questions, please let me know and hopefully I'll see you at one of our upcoming events!
