COVID-19 At-home Rapid Test Kits

The City of Middletown was allocated approximately 6,000 COVID-19 at-home rapid test kits this week by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Each kit contains two (2) at-home tests. We expect additional testing supplies to arrive in the coming weeks, starting with a distribution to Middletown Public Schools in the first week of January. 
 
4,000 test kits will be distributed for free to the general public this Friday, December 31. Times and locations are listed below. Proof of Middletown residency is required to receive kits. Limit two kits (four total tests) per household.

The remaining 2,000 tests will be immediately distributed to first responders, essential businesses, and community organizations with a high need for additional testing supply. 
 
“I applaud Governor Lamont for taking action to ensure testing supplies are more widely available during the holidays, and the City of Middletown is eager to get these tests into residents’ hands,” Mayor Ben Florsheim said. “I want to thank the Middletown Health, Police, Fire, and Emergency Management Departments, as well as our CERT and Middletown Medical Reserve Corps volunteers, for their hard work to make that happen.
 
“While these additional testing supplies are a step in the right direction, there is no question that we need more supply to meet the demand that this uptick in COVID-19 spread is creating -- and even more importantly, to prevent the next wave from getting this bad. The City of Middletown will continue to work tirelessly to increase access to testing, and I hope that our federal delegation will continue to work with President Biden to increase production and ensure everyone has reliable access to at-home testing.”
