Dear Recyclers,

We have added a second drop off for food scraps at the Emergency Management Building, 675 Randolph Road in Middletown. Please only bring acceptable food waste to the site. No plastic bags. No pet waste. Food scraps in paper or BPI certified compostable bags are acceptable. Full details are on our website: https://www.middletownct.gov/1074/Food-Scraps-at-the-Recycling-Center.

We will continue to collect food scraps at the Recycling Center and the Middletown Farmers Market. We are also giving away food scrap collection kits to residents who commit to compost in their backyards or participate in the drop off program. These are available at the Farmers Market or at the Public Works office in City Hall. If you are coming to the office, it is best to contact me first and let me know when you are coming in, so I can have it ready for you. You must be a Middletown resident and you need to sign a commitment pledge to receive the kit.

If you have any questions, please contact me at kim.orourke@MiddletownCT.Gov. I'll also be speaking at The Rockfall Foundation's Meet Your Greens tonight at 5:30pm in the Rose Garden of the Wadsworth Mansion. Come and ask me your questions in person!

Thanks for all your efforts,

Kim O'Rourke
Middletown Recycling Coordinator
