Paratransit Service Eligibility for Visitors

The Middletown Transit District is required to provide complementary paratransit service to visitors with disabilities who do not reside in the jurisdiction served by the Middletown Transit District. The following conditions shall apply to visitor eligibility.

  • The Middletown Transit District shall treat as eligible any visitor who presents documentation to the effect that they are paratransit eligible under the ADA regulations. Visitors with disabilities, who do not present such documentation, may be required to present documentation if it is not apparent. The Middletown Transit District shall then provide paratransit service to the visitor and accept their certification that they are unable to use fixed route service.
  • The Middletown Transit District is not required to provide service to a visitor for more than 21 days from the date of the first paratransit trip used by the visitor. The Middletown Transit District may require that such an individual, in order to receive service beyond this period, apply for eligibility under the normal certification process. District Administrative staff will make determinations of eligibility for both visitors and residents. Appeals will be addressed by the District's Board of Directors.

Once eligibility requirements have been satisfied, appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling 860-347-3313
